Assembly

Our theme today was based on our behaviour codes to ‘Be Hard Working’ and ‘Be Resilient.’

We talked about the importance of having a growth mindset and recognized that achieving a new skill means there is a process of learning.  That mistakes will be made and instant success is unlikely but by keeping a positive attitude, getting help with the tricky parts and thinking of an alternative approach to a difficulty can lead to eventual success.

We listened to the song Don't Give Up which helped us understand how to be hard working and resilient.

Links with Other Schools and Former Pupils

Mrs Hampton was delighted to visit Francis Holland Regents’ Park this morning to be greeted by two former pupils Lara and Mikayla who sent their best wishes to everyone.  They are enjoying their new school, making new friends and learning lots of new things. We were delighted to hear that Lara has already been selected to join the school Chamber Choir and Mikayla will be representing her new school soon in their Netball team.

This afternoon the Headmaster of Wetherby Boys Senior School, Mr Garvey,  brought along two of his Year 11 pupils who have offered to help with our Chess Club. We are anticipating that this will become a wonderful connection and give some of our pupils a great opportunity to connect with a very local and well regarded senior school.

On Thursday afternoon, we had an unexpected visit from a CHS alumni who had been at the school in 1961.  She had many fond memories of her time here when Mrs Keane was the headmistress.  She had even brought along some of her old school reports.  She was clearly a very diligent and hard working pupil!

Second Hand Sale

Our wonderful Parent Fundraising Committee is hard at work preparing for the second-hand uniform sale which will take place next Friday morning at 8:25am in the school dining room. We already have a large number of school pullovers, blazers and even some of the new style  PE kits. Definitely worth popping in. If you have any good quality uniform items your children have outgrown, we would love your donations. (not white shirts, flannel trousers or shorts, or tights please).  Please ensure all items are laundered and that all name tags have been removed before dropping them off at the school office on Thursday. Thank you so much for your support in keeping our school community resourceful and sustainable!
