Whole School Trip
The children set off this morning to go back to the Stone Age. After a week of class based lessons on the Neolithic period of history, they were ready to try out some practical skills and practise working collaboratively to achieve a shared goal. (Albeit with the comfort of bug spray and a guaranteed picnic lunch. No hunting of wooly mammoths needed!)
They will have learnt about the need for shelter and tried their hand at den building, they will have looked at how a weapon using a stick and flint could be made for hunting and then go exploring the woods to see what can be gathered. Finally, they will get the opportunity to see how a fire can be lit through friction and have the opportunity to take part in some trading.
We trust they will return tired, dishevelled and with a stronger appreciation of the comforts of the modern world.
Parent Meetings and End of Year Reports
Most families will now have had the opportunity to meet with their child’s class teacher to discuss their progress and attainment although there are still a few meetings which will take place next week.
The end of year reports will be issued from Friday 10th July, please expect an email from Reportbox, the platform that we use for the children’s reports.
New Cohort - Stay and Play Visits and Parents Welcome meeting
We were delighted to welcome the newest members of the CHS community this week as the September intake pupils came in small groups to meet Mrs Watson and Miss Pluskovska and stay and play in the Junior One classroom. Then on Wednesday evening, we met with their parents to introduce them to the school and give some top tips for a smooth transition into their school career. We look forward to getting to know the children and their families better in September.

Monday Form Six Secret Trip
On Monday, our Form Six pupils will set off on their much-anticipated annual Secret Trip with Mr Garvey and Mrs Hampton. They will meet bright and early at 7.40am at Victoria Station before beginning their journey to a closely guarded destination.
The mystery will be kept firmly under wraps until they are well on their way, when Mr Garvey will finally reveal where this year's adventure will take them. We wish everyone a wonderful trip and look forward to hearing all about their exciting experiences on their return.
Wednesday Parent Fundraising Committee
The CHS Parents' Fundraising Committee is looking forward to welcoming families to the Summer Fête on Wednesday, 8 July, from 2:30pm – 4:30pm at St John's Church. With a magician, traditional games, delicious snacks, a raffle and the return of the much-loved Disco, it promises to be a wonderful afternoon for the whole school community. Parents and carers are invited to join the children from 2:30 pm. More details, including advance token sales, will follow shortly. If you are able to help run a stall or donate a raffle prize, please contact your CHS Class Representative.
Thursday End of Term
The school will reflect on the year at a final assembly and bid a fond farewell to our Form Six pupils during the morning and all classes will finish for the summer holiday at midday.
