NSPCC’s Speak out. Stay safe Assembly

Today the children took part in a Virtual NSPCC assembly called Speak Out. Stay Safe.  The assembly is designed to help keep children safe by teaching them to understand abuse and to recognise the signs of it in a way that is appropriate for their age.  They were introduced to the NSPCC mascot ‘Buddy’, who helps them to understand they can speak out if they are worried about something, either to a ‘safe (trusted) adult’ or to contact Childline on 08001111 or https://www.childline.org.uk/toolbox/buddy-zone-under12service

Forms One and Two enjoyed listening to ‘Sam’s story, and Forms Three to Six about the sack of worries and what they could do about them.

The children will be doing some activities in the next few weeks to reinforce the message. Speak Out. Stay Safe

Community Partnership with the Marble Arch Bid

Five pupils were invited to go on a treasure style hunt to find where the Paddington statue had moved in Connaught Village on Tuesday. They followed his sticky paw prints and eventually found him eating a marmalade sandwich under a beautiful tree in Connaught Village Gardens.

Winter Uniform

From Monday, 29th September, the children should be coming into school in their smart winter uniform. This consists of;  mid-grey flannel trousers, pinafores from Perry Uniform or an optional pleated grey skirt (for Forms Five & Six only), a white shirt with a school tie with trousers or a Peter Pan blouse with the grey pinafore, the school v-neck pullover with the logo, green tights or knee length socks (for pinafores/skirts), grey socks (for trousers) and school blazer. Pupils may also wear their blue duffel coats in the cold weather. The gilet can be worn as an extra layer as the weather gets colder, but it should not replace the blazer. The blazer should be worn every day, even with the Sports kit.

Please ensure all items of clothing are labelled with your child’s full name, including both socks, gloves, and their water bottle.

Fire Drill

We were delighted with the timing, organisation and maturity of our pupils during our fire drill practice this morning.  The majority of our pupils and staff were accounted for in under a minute, with the rest of the school, including pupils with current leg and ankle injuries, in under two minutes. Keep up the good work!

Mrs Hampton’s visits to Senior schools

Each year, Mrs Hampton and the senior staff involved with senior school transitions are invited to join fellow Heads in visiting senior schools. This week, Mrs Hampton attended breakfast at Queen’s College on Wednesday, followed by a visit to Francis Holland Regent’s Park for breakfast on Friday.

It was a particular pleasure for her to catch up with Kira, who left us last year to join Francis Holland, as well as Beth, who achieved fantastic GCSE results in the summer. Hearing about all they have accomplished since leaving CHS was truly wonderful.
