Sustainability Assembly

In Friday’s assembly, Mrs Well shared the story A Climate in Chaos which encouraged the children to reflect on the important messages it shared about the environment. Pupils discussed the many impacts of climate change and thought carefully about how these affect people, animals and the planet. Together, they suggested practical and sustainable actions our school community can take to make a positive difference. Ideas included walking to school or taking the bus instead of using individual cars, recycling more effectively, remembering to switch off lights and computers when leaving a room, buying less and swapping toys or clothes, and even trying to replace one meat based meal a week with a plant based alternative. This links closely with our school behaviour code, encouraging everyone to be community minded.

NSPCC’s Speak Out. Stay safe Workshop

www.nspcc.org.uk/speakout

The NSPCC came into school today to work with Form Two and Forms Five and Six. The workshops led on from the assemblies from last week. The workshops centred on how well the children understood the messages given regarding how to recognise abuse, unkind friendships and who to talk to about worries, concerns of raising any concerns about other people, such as witnessing unkind bullying or concerning behaviour. The children were amazingly focussed and participated very well throughout the workshops.

Food in School

Please be reminded that children should not bring food into school, including snacks for after-school clubs or snack times, as the school will provide a suitable snack for all pupils.

Where there is a particular medical or pastoral need for food to be brought into school, the school will make reasonable adjustments to this policy and will work with parents and other professionals to create a food plan.

On occasion, children may bring food into school as part of a religious or cultural celebration. In these circumstances, the class teacher will first seek permission from the School Manager before speaking with parents about the purpose and details of the food being shared.

We trust this provides a clear understanding of our expectations, ensuring that all children remain safe, while still allowing us to celebrate and share special occasions together in a thoughtful way.

Winter Uniform

The children should now be coming into school in their smart winter uniform. The blazer (or the school duffle coat) should be worn every day, even with the Sports kit.

Please ensure all items of clothing are labelled with your child’s full name, including both socks, gloves, and their water bottle.

Mrs Hampton’s Senior School visits

This week, Mrs Hampton visited two new senior schools. On Tuesday, she attended the Grand Opening of Wetherby Pembridge in Kensington Olympia, where she had the pleasure of meeting CHS alumni parents and hearing how well their children have settled into Year 7 and their new senior school in its inaugural year. She also reconnected with the Headmaster, Mr Page, who visited us last year and spoke very positively about our former pupils.

On Thursday, Mrs Hampton enjoyed tea at Alleyn’s Hampstead to learn more about the forthcoming transition from Northbridge Senior, as it is currently known, to Alleyn’s Hampsted, its new name from September 2026. She was able to see first-hand the exciting building developments and to receive up-to-date information on the admissions process for prospective Year 7 pupils joining in 2026.
