We hope you all found the on-site Meet the Teacher meetings this week helpful. Thank you for making the effort to come into school and for overcoming the challenges that the London Underground placed in the way of commuters.
Continuous School Development
During the summer break, the builders were busy on site completing a full renovation of the Junior One classroom. The room now features built-in storage, filled with exciting resources, new flooring, and height adjustable classroom furniture from Community Playthings, making our youngest cohort’s learning space feel spacious and refreshed. The new children are greatly enjoying all of the activities on offer.
With the school close to capacity, we are making use of every available space. For this reason, i’m afraid, that we can not accept any more second hand uniform at the moment.
Further up the school, Form One, Form Five and the learning Hub (where we provide specialist one-to-one and in small group work such as Occupational and Speech and Language therapy, has also enjoyed a total refresh, with new flooring and redecorated walls.
This, in turn, has freed up office space on the third floor, which has been allocated to Ms. Burke, where she continues to keep a careful watch over our pupils' learning and the academic direction of the school and coordinates the pastoral care for your children.
Jigsaw PSHE Assembly
As Head of PSHE & RSE, Ms Galligan led our assembly this morning, introducing our school-wide Jigsaw PSHE theme for the half-term: Being Me in My World. This unit focuses on understanding what helps us to appreciate others and how we can show gratitude for the contributions they make.
Ms Galligan encouraged the children to reflect on themes such as self-realisation and taking pride in being creative and unique. We were especially delighted that our new Junior One cohort joined the assembly for the very first time – a wonderful milestone.
All the children engaged enthusiastically with the topic and offered thoughtful, reflective comments.
At the end of the assembly, we were delighted to have Rosa from Form Five share her amazing technology skills, showcasing her robotic arm, hand made with card and strings. We were also delighted to present the Doddle Maths certificates of achievement to Eitan and Freya in Form Two and Klara in Form Four.
Uniform
Children should wear their blazers to school every day. The blazer is a compulsory part of the uniform and should be worn on the days they wear their sports kit. Black school shoes are to be worn to school every day, and the children will change into their park shoes at school before they go to the park.
We understand that it does take some time for new items to be delivered, so please communicate with the school office if you have any missing items. We do have spare uniforms that can be borrowed or purchased on a donation basis. All donations go towards the CHS Bursary and Hardship Fund.
