We hope you had a wonderful half-term break and are looking forward to the various events and activities we have lined up for the CHS community to enjoy.
Virtual Coffee Morning with Mrs Hampton – F6 Transition to Senior School
Another well-turned-out virtual coffee morning for our senior parents last Thursday, where the topic of discussion was the transition to senior school.
With so much on the agenda, from mobile devices to debit cards and independent travel, there was plenty to discuss and plan for in the coming months, as pupils prepare for their move to senior schools.
Quiz Club Maths Competition
The Connaught House Maths team took part in a thrilling semi-final of the Quiz Club national schools’ tournament on Thursday. Sixty-two teams faced each other over thirty strenuous questions in an hour’s long tournament with the top teams progressing to the final. Mimi captained the side which was ably supported by Izzy, Maxi and Charlie. The questions ranged from the volumes of different cylinders to the time differences for passengers travelling from New York to London, to the air pressures of bicycle tyres. Remarkably, the team managed to answer twenty-five of the thirty questions correctly, finishing in sixteenth place. They will find out next week if this is enough for them to play in the finals in Oxford next month.
Form Six - Lord’s Cricket Trip
On Thursday night, the Form Six class braved the inclement weather to head to Lord’s to watch the thrilling T20 Blast match between Middlesex and Kent. The class had seats in the Tavern Stand and were rewarded by some high-quality cricket and plenty more besides. The group toured around the iconic ground, sampling the atmosphere alongside thousands of other cricket fans. They also visited the club shop and enjoyed a well-deserved ice cream. During the game, they met the Middlesex mascot, Corky the Cat, who was purring away on the boundary. The game saw Kent score 172 for 9 in their twenty overs, with England’s Zak Crawley scoring a half-century. Unfortunately, the rain started to fall at the halfway stage, meaning the match was drawn. The class will be visiting the Oval cricket ground in two weeks’ time to see Middlesex face their local rivals, Surrey.
PSHE Assembly
The Jigsaw PSHE assembly was led by Ms Galligan on the topic of Changes—how we all grow and develop, and how change can sometimes feel a little scary. Ms Galligan shared a story about self-love and spoke about how important it is to love ourselves and to recognise the value of true friendship.
At the end of the assembly, the children were asked what they had learnt, and some lovely comments were shared:
“I learnt how I can love myself more.” – Raphi, Form One
“To be a good role model for the younger children.” – Alexander, Form Four
The Form Six children reflected on how important their role as school leaders is—a big responsibility, but one that they find very rewarding.

Senior School Play & Junior Choir Performances - Monday 16th June
The upcoming Senior play of The Wizard of OZ will take place on Monday, 16th June at 2.30pm at The Marylebone Theatre. The children will need to have learnt their lines. Please continue to encourage the children to practise. They also have a number of songs to perform and the lyrics and singalong tunes are on the assembly classroom so they can practise. Children have been given some ideas about what might be suitable for their costumes. These have been posted on the Assembly Classroom which the children are able to access using their school google log in.
Costumes should be sent to school by next Wednesday, 11th June, in clearly labelled bags.
Pupils in Junior One to Form Two have been working on a selection of songs, which they will perform for parents on this day.
