As we approach the end of the first half of the summer term, please take a moment to read on and make note of the many events coming up after the break. We don’t want you to miss any of the special occasions the children have been working so hard to prepare for.

Junior One Open Dance - Wednesday 21st May

Thank you to the Junior One Parents who were able to join us for the Junior One Open Dance on Wednesday. There are a few movers and shakers in the class. We can all agree that the cowboy dance was the showstopper that afternoon.

Virtual Coffee Morning with Mrs Hampton - Form Five: What Parents need to know ahead of 11+

Mrs Hampton held an informative and fast-paced virtual meeting for Form Five parents on Thursday morning, covering key topics such as when to apply for open events, how many schools to apply to, and the varying types of assessments used by the top London schools we typically feed into.

She looks forward to continuing the 11+ and Beyond series of virtual parent meetings after half term, concluding with a session for parents of pupils currently in Form Six. This talk will focus on transition and the best ways to support your children as they move on to senior school.

Parent Fundraising Committee

You should all have heard from your class representatives by now regarding volunteering to be a class rep for the next academic year, 2025/26. We are particularly looking for volunteers from Forms One, Three and Five and if any parents are interested but are not currently part of their class parent group, please email the Chair of the Committee directly at: Parentscommittee@gs.connaughthouseschool.co.uk.

Parents' Virtual Meeting with Mrs Hampton and Ms Galligan - PSHE/RSE topics

Mrs Hampton and Ms Galligan held a Virtual Parents meeting exploring the PSHE/RSE curriculum on Friday afternoon. Ms Galligan guided parents through the different topics, highlighting the statutory areas of Relationship Education and the Science Curriculum, and outlined the three subjects that fall within the non-obligatory Sex Education Curriculum from which parents have the right to withdraw their children. Having the opportunity to see some of the Jigsaw PSHE lessons, including the scientific animation of both girls' and boys' puberty, was especially helpful.

She will be away for two weeks; therefore, Baking Club will be cancelled on Wednesdays 11th and 18th June.We are looking forward to welcoming back Miss Antolini Lemos, who has kindly agreed to support Forms One and Two while Miss Moreno is away.

Senior School Play & Junior Choir Performances -  Monday 16th June

The upcoming Senior play of The Wizard of OZ will take place on Monday 16th June at 2.30pm at The Marylebone Theatre. The children will need to have learnt their lines for soon after half term.  Please continue to encourage the children to practise.  They also have a number of songs to perform and the lyrics and singalong tunes are on the assembly classroom so they can practise.  Children have been given some ideas about what might be suitable for their costume. These have been posted on the Assembly Classroom.

Pupils in Junior One to Form Two have been working on a selection of songs, which they will perform for parents on this day. Getting their first taste of performing on stage in front of a large audience.
