Form One Assembly
Form One led this morning’s assembly, dressed in their wonderful ‘messenger’ costumes. They shared their learning from History (Messages over time), showed clay tablets they made in class, and engaged the whole school in a timeline activity, ordering different forms of communication from the earliest to the most modern.
It was wonderful to see some of the youngest children in the school speaking so confidently in front of such a large audience. Well done, Form One!
Junior One and Form One Dress up day
On Friday, the school came alive with the colourful arrival of spiders, ladybirds and butterflies (J1) fluttering through the doors, joined by posties through the ages (F1). The corridors buzzed with activity as the children fully embraced their characters for the day.
Form Four, Five and Six - Open Swim
Forms Four, Five and Six had their final swimming lesson of the term on Friday, and we were pleased to welcome parents from the Senior Classes to attend Open Swim.
The session provided an opportunity to see the progress the children have made in the pool. All four strokes were practised, and the swimmers demonstrated good technique and stamina while completing their lengths.
It was a fitting way to conclude this year's swimming programme for the senior classes. Swimming will return on the first Friday of the new academic year, when Forms Four, Five and Six will begin the term back in the pool.
Well done to all of our swimmers for their effort and commitment throughout the term.
Readathon - Final Total
The final total of money collected for Read for Good through sponsorship in our Readathon was £1,806.30. This is a marvellous amount and the children are rightly very proud of their efforts. A final thank you to parents and families for your support and generosity. We hope the children will be inspired to continue to read for pleasure.
Form Five and Form Six Encounter Anne Boleyn
Have you ever wondered what some of our most renowned historical figures actually looked like? This was the question used by the Form Five and Six pupils on Wednesday as they travelled to Hever Castle in Kent, the ancestral home of Anne Boleyn. The second wife of Henry VIII was known for her wit and intelligence, but was it her beauty that caught the eye of the monarch? This year, the castle has put together the largest ever gathering of portraits of Anne, and the pupils were able to see them all for themselves. They even had the chance to sketch their own pictures of the Queen who, infamously, had a gruesome end. Aside from Anne Boleyn, the trip also included a chance to venture onto the thrilling water maze which gave them all a thorough soaking. Also, they perused the amazing yew tree maze which Luca and Rosa managed to go from the start to the end in just over thirty seconds! The final highlight was a mile’s country hike to catch the train back, including a walk through a field of friendly sheep.
Form Two & Three Trip - The Wallace Collection
On Monday morning, Form Two & Three braved the rain to walk to The Wallace Collection, where they took part in a Powerful Portraits workshop. The children explored the purpose and meaning of portraits, both in the past and today. As “portrait detectives”, they examined how expression, posture, clothing and objects within a painting can reveal clues about a sitter’s identity, personality and story. The children also enjoyed sketching their own ideas whilst immersed in the galleries. They considered how they might portray themselves by reflecting on questions such as: What are you hoping for? What are you proud of?
The visit was a fantastic opportunity for them to develop their observation skills, engage in thoughtful discussion and build their confidence in talking about art and sharing their ideas with others. It was also wonderful to spend time being creative in such an inspiring setting, surrounded by renowned works of art and decorative objects dating from the14th to the 19th centuries. If you have never visited, it really is well worth a visit.

Key Stage Two Play - Olivia!
Costume ideas are available on the assembly Classroom and we would appreciate that costumes are brought into school on Monday 22 June 2026. Please encourage your child to learn their lines and to practice the songs. If your child has forgotten their script, these are also available on the assembly Classroom.
Form Three Trip - Local Area Study - Tuesday 16 June
Form Three will be going on a tour of London on Tuesday, 16th June. They will be taking the underground to Putney and then from there, they will take the Thames Clipper all the way to North Greenwich and, weather permitting, they will take the cable car across the river to view the stunning skyline.
The tour will form an important part of their learning about the local area as they will be: using maps to record data of different features, describing the distinctive features and suggesting improvements. They will also look at how the architecture of London has changed throughout history.
Sports Day - Friday 19 June
We are looking forward to Sports Day on Friday 19th June. Children should arrive at Paddington Recreation Ground at 9:15 am wearing their school PE kit and meet at the location marked on the attached map. Sports Day will begin at 9.30am and finish at approximately 12.30pm.
Following the presentation of the Sports Cup, families are invited to enjoy a picnic on the main lawn at Paddington Recreation Ground, as there will be no school in the afternoon. If you are unable to attend, please inform the school office who will be collecting your child at the end of the event.
Please ensure your child brings a sunhat(ideally school sunhat), has suncream applied (with extra supplied for reapplication), and has plenty of water. Parents wishing to support their child’s house should note that Clifton’s colour is green and Sussex’s is red. We look forward to a wonderful day of fun, participation and sportsmanship.
Parent Fundraising Committee
The CHS Parents' Fundraising Committee is looking forward to welcoming families to the Summer Fête on Wednesday, 8 July, from 2:30pm – 4:30pm at St John's Church. With a magician, traditional games, delicious snacks, a raffle and the return of the much-loved Disco, it promises to be a wonderful afternoon for the whole school community. Parents and carers are invited to join the children from 2:30 pm. More details, including advance token sales, will follow shortly. If you are able to help run a stall or donate a raffle prize, please contact your CHS Class Representative.
