Personalized Education, Excellent Outcomes

“ ‘A hidden gem of a school’…‘a culture of its own’: parents love the calm, creative, un-pressured atmosphere. Teachers ‘care from the bottom of their heart’, nurturing, steering and working together to create a unique experience in central London.”

Our Results Speak for Themselves

In January 2026, over 70% of our Year Six cohort received senior school offers with academic, music or art scholarships, reflecting the breadth of education we provide.

At Connaught House School, every child is known, supported and challenged to achieve their full potential within a small, nurturing environment that fosters confidence, curiosity and respect. Emotional well-being underpins our approach, supporting creativity, resilience and progress.

Admission is typically at 4+, and we prepare boys and girls for 11+ in an unpressured, carefully considered way. Through tailored support and extension, pupils develop according to their individual strengths, growing in confidence and ambition.

Learning Thrives in Bright Happy Classrooms

Our aim is to nurture happy, motivated and curious children who grow in self-belief while developing consideration for others and a strong sense of personal responsibility.

Housed in a Grade II listed townhouse near Hyde Park, our classrooms provide an inspiring setting in which children learn and make strong progress. Pupils are taught by positive, consistent and encouraging teachers who lead by example, foster involvement and ensure that every child feels valued and able to contribute.

Progress is carefully monitored so that each pupil receives the support they need and the appropriate level of challenge. Through excellent teaching and strong pastoral care, children are encouraged to become independent learners who take pride in their achievements and develop confidence in expressing their ideas.

“Teachers are diligent in identifying the means by which each pupil in the school can be best supported and challenged within lessons.”

A Rare Legacy of Leadership

Now in its third generation of family leadership, Connaught House School has benefited from exceptional stability and continuity over more than seventy years.

Victoria Hampton has served as Principal since 2017 and joined the school in 2007. She brings a deep understanding of the school’s ethos alongside extensive experience across a range of educational settings.

As a parent, with her youngest son currently at the school, she offers a perspective that strengthens relationships and ensures families feel closely connected and supported throughout their child’s time at the school.

“Mrs Hampton runs the school with great care. She brings together the right staff, nurtures a strong community, and sets high but thoughtful standards, ensuring the school remains both academically strong and emotionally supportive”

Parent Feedback Survey 2026

“As a former British ice skating champion, Mrs Hampton spins on a sixpence, reacting to children’s and parents’ needs. She wants to be the first to know about niggles and also wants everyone to feel part of this special community.”

A Strong Community

Across the school, pupils know one another well and relationships between year groups are a natural part of daily life. Older pupils support younger children, encouraging responsibility, cooperation and a strong sense of belonging. New pupils settle quickly into the rhythm of school life.

Our pupils grow up in a vibrant, multicultural environment where fourteen languages are spoken and children develop a genuine appreciation for different cultures and faiths. Families come from a wide range of backgrounds, united by a shared commitment to their children’s education, well-being and personal development. Parents choose Connaught House not only for its academic standards but also for its warmth, values and sense of community.

Connaught House provides a structured environment that encourages pupils to develop as individuals, recognising their own strengths and interests while learning to work collaboratively and respectfully with others.

Pupils are caring and supportive towards one another, understanding what it means to be part of a community of people of different ages and backgrounds.”

Curriculum with Breadth and Depth

At Connaught House School, the Creative Arts play a central role in developing creativity, confidence and individual expression.

Specialist teachers introduce pupils to key artists and support them in producing thoughtful, individual work. Pupils are encouraged to explore their own ideas and build on their personal strengths. Progress is recorded in sketchbooks, displayed across the school and recognised through success in regional and national competitions.

“Pupils achieve at a particularly advanced level in a wide range of media in art in response to expert teaching, high expectations and individual encouragement and support.”

Everyone makes music!

An inclusive musical education that builds skill, confidence and a lasting love of the arts.

From Reception, pupils enjoy two specialist-led music lessons each week, beginning with percussion and the glockenspiel before progressing to recorders, woodwind and ensemble playing on instruments such as the ukulele in the upper years.

Music is central to school life. All children sing in the junior or senior choir and many take individual lessons with visiting specialists in violin, flute, piano, woodwind and voice. Our visiting teachers are accomplished professional musicians, bringing expertise and inspiration that help pupils flourish musically.

“The music curriculum is carefully designed to enable pupils to develop both instrumental and singing skills. Lessons include challenging content and are well paced so that pupils show both competence and enjoyment in their performances.”

“Pupils acquire a mature sense of self-condence through the individual support and encouragement provided by adults throughout the school.”

Confident Voices

Every child participates in performances and public speaking. Our pupils are encouraged to be articulate and confident in expressing themselves in everyday life.

Learning is enriched through role play in the classroom and on stage. Our specialist drama and music teachers foster confident public speaking and performance and prepare pupils for LAMDA and ABRSM grades as well as regional and national competitions and debates. Pupils’ growing skills are celebrated through termly events; a junior play and whole school Christmas concert in the autumn, a poetry competition and recital in the spring and a whole school production in the summer in which every Key Stage Two pupil has a role and lines to recite.

Everyone is active!

Pupils develop skills that have enabled many to be selected for competitive teams locally and at senior school, while also learning the importance of resilience, camaraderie and teamwork.

All year groups have two one-hour PE lessons per week, taught by specialist teachers. One lesson takes place in Hyde Park, making use of the open space for athletics, football, touch rugby and quick cricket. From Year Two, the second lesson is held at Kensington Leisure Centre, where pupils use the gymnasium for netball, basketball, badminton and gymnastics.

From Year Two, our pupils are encouraged into the water. The excellent facilities at nearby Kensington Leisure Centre provide the perfect environment, with two pools and specialist instructors guiding children to swim all four strokes proficiently.

Our youngest pupils participate in weekly dance classes. A short walk away, we use the outstanding facilities at the Sylvia Young Theatre School, where visiting specialist dance teachers provide inspiring instruction in classical ballet, street and theatrical dance.

“We noticed how children are spoken to in a kindly way and, in turn, they talk to each other, and to everyone else in the school community, in similar vein. Kindness and inclusivity are baked in: messages on heart-shaped wooden discs say ‘our voices are heard’, ‘kindness is smiling’.”
