We hope you all had a wonderful and restful half-term break. As we embark on the second half of the Autumn Term, there is much to look forward to. The weeks ahead promise to be filled with exciting activities, enriching learning opportunities and plenty of festive cheer as we begin our countdown to Christmas.

Remembrance Day Assembly

The school gathered together to learn about the significance of Remembrance at this time of year and why many people will come together on Sunday at the cenotaph.  We also spoke of the charity ‘The Royal British Legion’ who chose the poppy as a symbol of remembrance and how they use the money they collect to help the people and their families who have served their country.  We listened to a song based on a famous poem ‘In Flanders Fields’ written by a young man who had served in the First World war and then heard ‘The Last Post’.  This afternoon, every child coloured a poppy and cut it out to create a poppy wreath for our front door.

Form One Parent visitors

Form One extended their international week celebrations by welcoming in two more parents to talk with the class celebrating the language spoken at home and learning about cultural festivals celebrated in their home countries.

School Counsellor

We wanted to share some exciting developments for our school counsellor, Sam McManus, who has recently launched  Kensington Square Therapy (KST), an organisation specialising in counselling and wellbeing support for pupils at independent schools. Therefore, our school counselling provision will now be supported through a partnership with KST

From this half term, sessions will be led by Anna Ford, a qualified therapist with extensive experience working with children in independent school settings. Anna will be part of our wider pastoral team, offering a calm, confidential space for pupils who may benefit from additional support.

Junior Play

Rehearsals are now in full swing for our Junior Christmas Play, The Jolly Christmas Postie Pat, inspired by the much-loved tale The Jolly Postman! The children are already bringing the story to life in rehearsal. By now, everyone should have their scripts in hand and their costume lists ready to go, so it is time to start practicing those lines and gathering those festive outfits. We are all looking forward to their performance at St John’s Church on 11th December.

Thursday’s Senior After School Sports Club

As the evenings are now getting darker, earlier, the club will take place indoors from next week, Thursday, 13 November onwards. Therefore, parents will need to collect children from school at 4:45pm instead of at Hyde Park on Thursday afternoons.  Friday’s Junior Sports Club, which starts and ends slightly earlier, will continue to take place in Hyde Park and so children should be collected from there, as usual at 4:15pm
