Form Four Assembly

Form Four delivered a fantastic assembly this week based on their Science topic of sound. Inspired by Carnival of the Animals by Saint-Saëns, the students performed a range of musical pieces representing Lions, Sparrows, Cuckoos, Aquariums, Horses and even an Elephant! The audience was also involved, with other pupils guessing which instrument represented each animal. The class worked incredibly hard to learn their instrumental parts and created beautiful artwork to accompany each piece. It was a wonderful showcase of their creativity, teamwork and growing understanding of sound.

Form Three Trip to the British Museum

Form Three spent an unforgettable day at the British Museum, diving deep into the mysteries of early Britain. Armed with interactive tablets, the children explored the legendary Sutton Hoo treasures, uncovering stories of kings, warriors and long-buried secrets. The technology brought the exhibits to life, letting the children zoom in on intricate details, unlock hidden facts and engage with the collection in a way that felt truly immersive.

The excitement continued in the afternoon with a treasure hunt through Ancient Britain. The children raced from the Stone Age to the Roman Empire and onwards to the Anglo-Saxons and Vikings.

Form Three returned to school buzzing with new knowledge, favourite finds and a renewed sense of curiosity about the ancient world.

Easter Egg Collection - St John’s Hospice

Thank you to all of the families who donated eggs to St John’s Hospice. On Friday morning, Mrs Wells and Mrs Larke were accompanied by Elena and Kira F6, Bruno and Margaret F4, to help deliver close to 70 Easter Eggs. The staff at the hospice were very grateful as the donations will be used as part of the annual Easter Egg hunt.

Form One Open Dance

Our Form One pupils were delighted to welcome their parents to Sylvia Young Theatre School for their Open Dance session on Wednesday. The children thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to perform a medley showcasing the ballet and hip hop techniques they have been developing with Miss Ellie throughout the term.

Writing competition - Halcyon International School

Our Form Five and Six pupils took part in a writing workshop at Halcyon school last term, and this week we received the outcomes and Atia, Mariam and Lara were awarded 1st, 2nd and 3rd place respectively. Bravo!

Spring At Last

We see the official start of Spring this weekend, where our hours of daylight are greater than our hours of darkness. We look forward to more blue skies and sunshine! Blazers should be worn all year round, and with the temperatures slightly increasing, duffel coats may not be needed so frequently. We would also like to acknowledge our families who are marking Nowruz on Friday and those marking the end of Ramadan.  Eid Mubarak.  Trusting you all, have a wonderful weekend.

Upcoming

Debating Competition - Queen’s Gate School - Wednesday 25 March

Next Wednesday after school, the Form Six class will be heading to Kensington to take part in the annual Queen's Gate Debating competition. The class will be split into two teams and will be up against a large number of other London schools in a three-hour tournament where they will each debate three motions. Two of these will be impromptu debates, allowing for just ten minutes' preparation. This will be great practice for the class as they will be off to Cambridge in early June to compete in the final of the national Cicero Cup tournament alongside just seven other schools.

Open Day - Friday 27 March

The annual Open Day is always a highlight at CHS, and this year it will take place on the last day of term, Friday, 27 March. All family members are welcome to visit during the course of the morning, accompanied by their child, who will show them their work and introduce them to the rest of the school staff.  The children should wear their school uniform rather than their games kit on this day. The children will then finish for the Easter holidays.

An invitation with a link to book your entry time slot will have been sent to you early this week, this is purely to enable us to manage the flow of entry. Families are welcome to stay until the end of the Open Morning at 11.30 am. The staff will then be preparing for the Open Afternoon, where prospective parents will visit, and the Form Six children will act as ambassadors for the school. We look forward to welcoming you on the morning of Friday, 27 March.
