ℯNEWS MARCH, 13 2026
This week during assembly, the children learned about the importance of good sleep hygiene. They discussed why sleep is essential for their health, well being, and learning, and were able to recognise how good sleep habits help them feel ready for the school day. Mrs Hampton explained that children of primary age should aim for 10–12 hours of sleep each night to support their growth and concentration.
Pupils contributed thoughtfully to the discussion. Luca from Form Five suggested avoiding blue screens before bedtime, while Richard in Form Two recognised that limiting sugary foods in the evening can help promote better sleep. All pupils were highly engaged and shared excellent ideas.
To reinforce their learning, a short questionnaire has been added to the Google Classroom for Forms One to Six. Pupils can complete this to help us see how much they have remembered from the assembly.
Form Four, Five & Six Trip to British Library
Armed with packed lunches, sturdy walking shoes and curious minds, Forms Four, Five and Six headed off to the British Library on Monday. Having travelled by tube, they arrived at King’s Cross Station, adjacent to the British Library. After a leisurely lunch in the sunny Library Piazza, the children were taken in two groups on a Writing Adventure. Each group was guided through the library by the workshop leaders (Ian or Sandra) and encountered particular library treasures and curios. They saw The King’s Library Tower, where to their delight, they witnessed the rare event of the bookshelves moving, as though on the command of a magician. Among the other treasures viewed were the giant Klencke Atlas, Magna Carta and wall murals depicting a medley of book and history characters. These, in harmony, provided the inspiration for stories, which the children planned and wrote for the last part of the sessions. They returned to school, their heads swimming with creative ideas and, hopefully, a plan to visit a local public library in the near future.
Form Two Healthy Eating
As part of their Jigsaw PSHE lesson this week, the children had to make a healthy snack and taste test it! They chose to make a fresh fruit and vegetable salad. They enjoyed chopping up all the vegetables and fruits, from fresh watermelon, sweet peppers, strawberries and avocado! Once they were happy with their salads, they tasted them! Some children felt they had done such a great job that they wanted to take some home to mummy and daddy as a special healthy treat! They made excellent chefs, cleaning up after themselves too!
