Welcome back to school and a happy new year to everyone.

It has been a cold start to the week but children have been well wrapped up with school hats, scarves and gloves.  Thank you.

‘Bug Busting’

As you will be aware we have had some unwelcome ‘visitors’ to school in the guise of head lice.  We would really appreciate it if every family could check the whole family this weekend and if necessary treat heads and wash all hats etc so that we can try and prevent the spread. ‘Bug busting’ in this way can help to stop the constant re- spread of these nuisances.  Combing through hair coated with lots of conditioner with a fine tooth comb can help detect if there is a problem.

Also can we emphasise that long hair should be tied back.  We have seen some lovely ‘ballet’ buns this week which are also very practical.

Theatre Trip to see Ballet Shoes

At the end of last term a group of Form 5 and 6 students went to the National Theatre to see a performance of Noel Streatfeild's Ballet Shoes. The story is about the exploits of the three sisters: Pauline, Posey and Petrova Fossil. It explores their relationship with their Great Uncle Matthew. The pupils were able to see the magnificence of the Olivier Theatre and absorb the wonder of a Friday night at a stunning location on the South Bank.

Assembly

The assembly this week was led by Ms Galligan who was introducing the Jigsaw theme for this term’s unit in PSHE- Dreams and Goals. The children attentively listened to two stories, one about how to overcome anxiety and succeed in our goals and the other about facing our fears and being resilient. Then the children all had an opportunity to share their thoughts and experiences of  overcoming challenges and  feeling proud of our achievements. We shared our aspirations for the future. We also learnt a new song, "This is my Show".
