Assembly Jigsaw Healthy Me
On Friday morning Ms Galligan led the PSHE Jigsaw Assembly with the help of the Form Six pupils. The children listened to a story about the Jigsaw Jo character and the challenges of making healthy food choices. They then discussed what food groups are and how these can affect our bodies and our mind. We then did some mindful meditation and shared ideas about how best to keep healthy and exercise. Special thanks to Jigsaw Jo for helping us navigate tricky food choices!
National Maths Tournament
The intrepid Form Six Maths team of Elena, Atia, Kira and Rafeeq went head to head with 70 other teams in the semi final of a prestigious national Maths tournament this week. The challenging competition comprised thirty questions all answered under time restrictions. The topics covered all of Key Stage 2 Maths, and far beyond into the sphere of GCSE work. The team performed superbly, answering questions involving pi, Algebra and simultaneous equations. When the final points were added up, the team finished in a mid table position This is a significant achievement for which they should be extremely pleased.
Commendation from Wetherby Senior Head Master
Following his visit to Connaught House as guest judge for our recent in-house poetry competition; Mrs Hampton was delighted to receive a quick email from Wetherby Senior Head Master, Mr Robert Garvey, who was so impressed with the pupils he met that he sent Mrs Hampton these few lines of praise;
"I happened across a couple of CHS families in Baker Street on Tuesday and the children came to say hello with their mothers; you're educating lovely young people."
Fine praise indeed from Robert Garvey, who previously led academics at Merchant Taylors’ School before taking up the headship at Wetherby Senior School; we were delighted to receive his kind words about our pupils.
Alumni Achievements - Renee Regis
We are so proud of former CHS pupil Renee Regis for winning the Women’s 200m British title at the UK Athletics Indoor Championships in Birmingham last week!
Renee joined her big sister at Connaught House in Junior One in 2010 and from her first Sports Day triumph to her last she led Sussex House to victory after victory; recognised on the CHS Victor Ludorum trophy for outstanding athletic ability in 2017 she then successfully secured her place to Francis Holland, Regent’s Park at 11plus.
We have been watching Renee’s talent develop from afar over these past few years and could not be prouder of our former pupil’s achievement; bravo Renee!
Parents’ Trivia Night Success
Our Connaught House parent community gathered together last Wednesday evening at The Duke of Wellington to enjoy the school’s first ever Parents’ Trivia Night; it was a momentous success and tremendous fun for everyone involved.
Some past general knowledge questions from the children even made an appearance; alongside questions about what had been served earlier in the day for school lunch. It was certainly a good day to have served Donata’s delicious lasagne.
Congratulations to the Parents’ Fundraising Committee for organising such an enjoyable event and raising over £1390, which will go towards the school’s bursary fund. Bravo!
